A 34-year old male called 911 from the Robertson area on Friday, August 10, 2018, after he taped a machete to each hand in an apparent attempt of ‘suicide by cop’

Police say the call came in just after 7:00 am and tactical support team officers responded.

Police say the suspect immediately advanced on officers as soon as they arrived on scene yelling at them to shoot him. The officers pulled back to a safe distance to wait for backup.

The male tried to advance on officers once more with a homemade shield designed to thwart the use of tasers by police.

Police say that they believe the man was coming off a methamphetamine high and had specific plans to attack police and force them to shoot him.

Officers were able to use a “less lethal” weapon and took the man into custody.

The suspect was charged with Possession of a weapon and Fail to comply with a probation order.

He was detained in custody
