Winnipeg police homicide detectives have arrested and charged a 19-year-old male in connection to the July 4, 2021 death of 17-year-old Jaden Charles John Oman.

Police had responded to the 300 block of Assisniboine Avenue around 3:30 am for the report of an assault. when they arrived they found Oman suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital but did not survive.

Investigators say they believe that Oman and the suspect were involved in an argument that escalated to an assault. Police say the suspect was taken into custody soon after their arrival. It is believed the suspect and victim were known to each other.

Samuel David Hastings from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with Second Degree Murder. He was detained in custody.
