Winnipeg Police have arrested a 33-year-old male in connection to with nine robberies over the last three weeks.
On July 30, 2019 officers responded to a commercial robbery on Ellice Avenue after a man armed with a knife had stolen several items and took off on foot.
Police searched the area and located the suspect in the 600 block of Banning Street.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit were able to link the suspect to seven other robberies that happened between July 9 and July 25, 2019.
- On July 9, 2019, at approximately 11:10 p.m., a convenience store in the 100
block of Salter Street was robbed by a male armed with a knife. - On July 15, 2019, at approximately 6:15 a.m., a convenience store in the 600
block of McPhillips Street was robbed by a male armed with a knife. - On July 15, 2019, at approximately 12:20 p.m., a convenience store in the 1500 block of Arlington Street was robbed by a male armed with a firearm.
- On July 15, 2019, at approximately 10:05 p.m., a hotel in the 300
block of Kennedy Street was robbed by a male. - On July 17, 2019, at approximately 1:50 a.m., a convenience store in the 700
block of Mountain Avenue was robbed by a male armed with a knife. - On July 18, 2019, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the same convenience store in the 600
block of McPhillips Street was robbed by a male armed with a knife. - On July 24, 2019, at approximately 2:40 a.m., a convenience store in the 800
block of Arlington Street was robbed by a male armed with a knife. - On July 25, 2019, at approximately 2:50 a.m., a convenience store in the 100
block of Keewatin Street was robbed by a male armed with a firearm.
Harvey James McKay from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with seven counts of robbery, two counts of armed robbery using a restricted Firearm, two counts of Pointing a Firearm, eight counts of Possession of a Weapon as well as several other weapons related offences. He was also charges with eight counts of Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice.
McKay was detained in custody
