The Major Crimes Unit has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the recent reports of deceased cats found under the Summit Road bridge in December 2024. Authorities have identified and arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for these disturbing incidents.
On the evening of January 10, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., investigators successfully apprehended a 24-year-old male at his residence in Winnipeg. The arrest was made without any incident. According to the Major Crimes Unit, the suspect either lured the cats or acquired them through a social media platform, subsequently inflicting injuries that resulted in their deaths. The deceased cats were discarded under the bridge, where they were discovered by concerned area residents who then contacted the police.
The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, now faces three charges of Killing or Injuring an Animal. He has been released on an Undertaking, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
