A 42-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection to a fatal hit and run that claimed the life of a 50-year-old male.
On July 29, 2020, emergency crews respond to Moncton Avenue and Grey Street for the report of a vehicle collision involving a bicycle.
The cyclist was taken to hospital in critical condition but died soon afterwards due to his injuries.
The driver fled the scene before police arrived.
Members of the WPS Traffic Division spent more than a year investigating the incident and were able to identify a suspect in the case.
On September 28, 2021, officers arrested Alan Wayne Vandal in connection to the incident.
Vandal has been charged for his alleged involvement with Failing to Stop at Scene of Accident Knowing that or Reckless as to Whether They Were Involved in an Accident Causing Death.
He was detained in custody.
