Sunday evening, February 6, 2021, RCMP in Flin Flon responded to an armed and barricaded situation after an armed male inside an apartment held a female and infant hostage.
Officers from Flin Flon and surrounding detachments were deployed around the building as temperatures hovered at -44c.
Police used a crisis negotiator to contact the suspect.
During the incident the suspect went outside the building and was arrested bu officers as he tried to go back inside. During the arrest the accused assaulted one of the officers who suffered a minor injury.
The female and infant inside the apartment were not injured during th incident.
the 19-year-old male is facing a number of charges for his alleged involvement including Use of a Firearm in Taking Hostage, Unlawful Confinement, Assault a Peace Officer, and several firearm-related charges.
The suspect remains in custody.
