A 24-year-old male is in custody after he allegedly assaulted a male in his 70s near the Disraeli Freeway and Henry Street on Sunday night, July 10, 2022.

Police say that they responded to the report of an assault around 10:00 pm. An elderly male was walking in the area when the suspect allegedly approached him and hit him from behind with a wooden board. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect walked away.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and released.

The suspect was chased by nearby security officers and held for police.

Dorian Reid Hardisty of Winnipeg was charged for his alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon and Public Mischief.

Police say that when first arrested Hardisty gave them a false name.
