The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating after a male suspect allegedly sustained a fractured elbow during a May 5, 2022 arrest.
According to the IIU Winnipeg police had responded to the area around Pembina Highway and Bishop Grandin and located a male armed with a weapon. The male refused to drop the weapon and force was used to take the suspect into custody.
The male was taken to hospital where it was determined that his elbow may be fractured.
As a fractured elbow is defined as a serious injury in IIU regulation and investigation was begun.
