Teenage boy victim in serious assault

An area around St. John’s High School was taped off Thursday afternoon as police investigated a serious assault of a teenage boy. 

It happened around 1:45 pm March 16, 2017.  The victim was stabbed in the upper body and was taken to hospital by paramedics in critical condition. His condition has stabilized although he remains in critical condition.

The area surrounding the school was shut down as police investigated. The school was placed in a hold and secure protocol which permitted student to move around inside the building but external door to the school were locked.

Winnipeg School Division says that parents will be receiving a letter this afternoon about the incident and counselling will be made available.

Police continue the investigation.
