STRIKE | UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA FACULTY WALKING PICKET LINE

The deadline has come without a resolution so on to the next phase of the labour dispute.

At 7:00 am Tuesday morning faculty at the University of Manitoba hit the picket line and it didn’t take long before tensions rose as drivers attempted to push through the line.

According to the faculty association the main sticking points are job security, workload projections and performance assessment. The University, however, say that the association also asked for a 7% salary increase over one year.

The province has appointed a conciliator who will begin meeting with both sides on Wednesday.

The association has vowed to maintain the picket line between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday until an agreement can be reached.

A large number of classes will be cancelled but the university says many will continue to be delivered. Students can see which classes are still on HERE.
