Street sweepers hit the roads Sunday night

You know the great weather in Winnipeg is on its way when the city breaks out the street sweepers.

Beginning Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 10:00 pm the annual cleanup to remove sand and debris from roads, sidewalks and bridges gets underway.

Expected to take up to six weeks to complete the major cleanup will use more than 300 pieces of equipment, 500 people and cost the taxpayer $6 million.

The city says that during the cleanup tempory no parking signs may be put up on some roads and they warn not to ignore them as fines can be up to $150 plus $118 in towing fees.
