Brandon Police are praising the efforts of Storm, one of their police service dogs after two suspects were tracked down and arrested ending a rash of local break-ins.
Early this morning January 3, 2018, police responded to a call of a break-in in progress at a business in the 1600 block of 18th Street. Two suspects had broken into the store and stole a mountain bike but had taken off before police arrived. Officers searching the area were able to find the stolen bike on Aberdeen Avenue.
Storm tracked the suspects and located them nearby. Two 13-year-old youths were arrested for the theft of the bike but further investigation found that the youths were involved in two additional break-ins on December 30 and December 31st. In the first incident, the pair set off a fire extinguisher inside a business in the 2100 block of Brandon Avenue.
The pair face a number of Break and Enter charges and one of the two also faces a Possession of a Prohibited Weapon charge after officers found a set of brass knuckles on him.
Both accused were released from custody and will appear in court later in January.
