The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) announced on Thursday, August 18, 2022, that an inmate at Stony Mountain Institution died while in custody.
According to the CSC the inmate has been identified as Denis Mutz. At the time of his death, Mutz was serving a sentence of 4 years, 4 months and 12 days for possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking since December 2, 2020. Mutz’s next of kin has been notified.
The RCMP and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have been notified of the death. The CSC will be conducting a review of the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death.
