Police find loaded zip-gun in stolen vehicle

Winnipeg Police have a 27-year-old male in custody after he was alleged spotted driving a stolen vehicle near Redwood Avenue and Main Street.

Police say a K-9 unit was patrolling in the area when the vehicle was spotted. The suspect saw the patrol unit and took off speeding through a residential neighbourhood.

While making his getaway the suspect hit three parked cars then slammed into street lights on St. Johns Avenue. The driver then hopped out vehicle and took off on foot. He ran into a nearby garage in an effort to evade police but he was soon captured and placed under arrest.

A search of the stolen vehicle uncovered a loaded zip-gun.

He was detained in custody.
