On July 13, 2016 at about 4:40 a.m., police noticed a suspicious Ford F350 being driven near Dugald Road and Panet Road. Officers determined that the vehicle had been stolen from the Windsor Park area.
A patrol unit tried to stop the vehicle safely, however the driver took off at a high rate of speed in a dangerous manner. The suspect eventually abandoned the vehicle which was located partially submerged in the Red River at a dead end on Tache Avenue near Whittier Park.
Members of the Canine Unit tracked the suspect along the riverbank and arrested a male a short distance away.
A 17 year old male is facing the following charges:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Mischief Over $5000.00 x 2
- Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
- HTA – Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and Exchange Particulars x 2
He has been detained.
