Stolen Vehicle Pursuit in Winnipeg Ends in Arrest

Early this morning, December 15, 2024, at approximately 1:35 a.m., officers from the West District General Patrol of the Winnipeg Police Service observed a stolen vehicle being driven in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

The vehicle, a 2013 Ford F150, had been reported stolen from Niverville, MB on December 8. Upon sighting the vehicle, officers initiated a pursuit as the driver attempted to evade capture by navigating through the Weston and Keewatin neighbourhoods.

The chase came to an abrupt end when the driver lost control and became lodged in a snowbank near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Oddy Street. Officers approached the vehicle and, after deploying a Conducted Energy Weapon, safely placed the uncooperative driver under arrest.

During the arrest, officers seized 3D-printed brass knuckles and break-in tools from the suspect. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, a 35-year-old male from Winnipeg, was prohibited from operating a vehicle anywhere in Canada.

The individual now faces multiple charges including Possession of a Weapon, Resisting a Peace Officer, Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under the Criminal Code, Possession of Break-In Instruments, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. The suspect has been detained in police custody awaiting further disposition.
