Stolen vehicle leads to firearms charges for Sandy Bay man

Brandon Police Service arrest and charge a 33-year-old male from Sandy Bay First Nation after they received the report of a stolen vehicle.

According to police, the vehicle had been stolen sometime overnight between Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Saturday night officers observed the stolen vehicle travelling through a number of back lanes in Brandon before fleeing westbound out of the city on Highway 1A.

During his attempt to evade officers he became stuck in a ditch and took off on foot.

A police K-9 unit was able to capture the suspect.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded sawed-off shotgun on the front seat

Police say the suspect was wanted on outstanding warrants. He is also facing a number of Criminal Code driving and firearms charges for his alleged involvement.
