Police say the truck was stolen around 3:00 am on Friday, February 1, 2019, after it was left running and unattended in front of a Corydon Avenue convenience store.

Just after midnight the next day a police patrol unit spotted the stolen truck parked near Keewatin Street and Pacific Avenue West. The vehicle was running and the female suspect was slumped over the steering wheel.

Officers pulled up in front of the vehicle and approached the truck to wake the driver to see if she was sleeping, impaired or under medical distress.

Upon waking the woman put the truck into reverse and slammed into the vehicle behind pushing it into the intersection. she then drove forward just missing one of the officers and hitting the cruiser on the side.

As she tried to flee she sped up but soon hit a tree bringing the vehicle to an abrupt stop.

The suspect hopped out of the truck and tried to run away on foot but officers caught her very quickly.

Inside the vehicle police found a machete, a knife and a hatchet. About 1.1 grams of Meth was found on the suspect.

Courtney Marie Friesen from Winnipeg is facing a number of Highway Traffic Act Offences, weapons and drug offences as well as property offences for her alleged involvement.

Friesen was detained in custody.
