Suspect slams stolen vehicle into police cruiser in an attempt to flee

Winnipeg Police have arrested two females in connection to a stolen vehicle incident that happened early Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018.

Police say that just after 12:30 am a K-9 unit was crossing Arlington Street Bridge when the officer observed a stolen vehicle. AIR-1, the police helicopter, began tracking the vehicle as it sped through the north end of the city.

Officers placed stop sticks in the path of the vehicle in an effort to stop it but the driver continued to flee.

The stolen vehicle eventually came to a stop on Watson Street and the passenger bolted on foot. The driver of the car tried to flee once again in the vehicle and hit a police cruiser. One officer discharged their firearm say police.

The driver was taken into custody and the passenger was captured shortly afterwards.

 

Selena Sage Martin, 20 from Winnipeg, has been charged for her alleged involvement with:

– Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon (x2)
– Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
– Driving While Disqualified
– Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

Jolene Lydia Murdock, 27 from Winnipeg, has been charged for her alleged involvement with:

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
– Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x3)

They were both detained in custody.
