Stolen Truck Leads to High-Speed Chase and Crash in West Elmwood

A stolen 2004 Dodge Ram led Winnipeg Police on a late-night pursuit through the city, culminating in a dramatic crash in the West Elmwood neighbourhood, authorities reported.

The incident began on March 17, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., when the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of the truck being stolen from a parking lot in the 1100 block of Main Street.

Nearly four hours later, at approximately 11:45 p.m., East District General Patrol officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the West Elmwood area. The Dodge Ram was observed making an illegal left turn in a back lane between Hespeller Avenue and Hart Avenue. Officers reported the truck was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit ended abruptly when the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a multi-vehicle collision. The Dodge Ram struck a hydro pole, parked vehicles, and a fence before coming to a stop in the rear of a residence in the sub 100 block of Hespeller Avenue.

With the assistance of Air1, Winnipeg Police were able to apprehend one male suspect at the scene without incident. Subsequent investigation confirmed that the Dodge Ram and its rear license plate were stolen.

A second male suspect was located and arrested in the immediate vicinity shortly thereafter.

A 35-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

A 33-year-old male from Little Saskatchewan First Nation, Manitoba, is facing two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 for his alleged involvement.

Both suspects were released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
