On June 11, 2024, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) successfully apprehended a suspect following a report of a stolen truck being driven around the community, allegedly with multiple occupants and a firearm inside.
The MFNPS officers on general duty patrol spotted a vehicle matching the description of the reported stolen truck on Main Road in Sandy Bay First Nation. Despite the vehicle fleeing from the police at high speed, the officers were able to identify the driver. The vehicle was later found outside a residence on Lake Road South.
Following a brief foot chase, the driver was arrested without further incident. The stolen truck was traced back to Carmen, Manitoba. A subsequent search of the arrest area led to the discovery of a loaded 22-250 rifle.
- The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jordan Kenneth Beaulieu of Sandy Bay, was taken into custody. Beaulieu has been charged with multiple offences, including:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a firearm/ammunition in a motor vehicle
- Weapon possession contrary to order
- Fail to comply with release order condition x2
Beaulieu is currently being held in custody pending further proceedings.
