It was like the scene out of an action movie on the morning of Friday, July 27 2018.
Winnipeg Police noticed a stolen Cadillac Escalade southbound on Furby Street between Sargent and Ellice Avenues.
Police say that when the driver of the vehicle noticed them approaching with lights and sirens he jumped the curb and continued driving at more than 100 km/hr along the sidewalk.
As the SUV was trying to escape it narrowly missed hitting a female pedestrian but it did hit several fences along the way.
As the fleeing vehicle reached Ellice Avenue and Furby Street it hit a building nearly flipping on its side.
At this point, the driver lost control of the vehicle. He barely missed colliding with a Winnipeg Police cruiser as it crossed the intersection and slammed head-on into an apartment building.
The driver tried to take off on foot but was quickly captured. A search found $600 in his pocket and more than 40 grams of Methamphetamine in the vehicle
