Stolen Snowmobile Driver Parked by Police

At roughly noon on March 13, 2022, WPS responded to a report of someone illegally operating a snowmobile, later determined to be stolen, in St. Norbert.

WPS Traffic Division officers, travelling on snowmobiles, joined general patrol officers to search the area. They were joined by a member of the K9 unit and AIR1.

For close to four hours, the suspect continued to evade police, buzzing around an extensive area of the city’s southeast.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., police found and arrested 40-year-old Curtis McGIRR of Winnipeg.  He’s now charged with possessing property worth over $5000 that was obtained by crime, flight from police and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.  Police indicate the man is was also the subject of a warrant stemming from firearms-related charges, and he was detained in custody.
