Police issue warning after purse-snatching

Winnipeg Police have issued a warning after a purse was stolen from a 65-year-old woman while she was walking near Sargent Avenue and Sherbrook Street.
The theft happened just before 10:30 am on July 4, 2018. The victim had been walking to her car when she noticed two females following her. Moments later she was pushed to the ground and she was dragged as one of the suspects grabbed her purse. The victim suffered minor injuries and the suspects fled with the purse.
The purse contained a sum of cash, banking cards, identification, a cell phone and about 20 Alprazolam pills (also known as Xanax)
Police warn that taking large quantities of the stolen pills alone or in combination with other drugs or alcohol could be dangerous to your health or could even be fatal.
Both suspects in the case are described as Indigenous, approximately 21-years-old and stand 5’4″ tall. Both were wearing a black zip-up sweater and black leggings. They also both had black backpacks, one with red stripes one with pink.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219.
