Steinbach traffic stop leads to drugs and weapon arrest

RCMP in Steinbach have two people in custody following a traffic stop on Main Street on Monday night, May 4, 2020.

Police say the driver and the passenger were arrested after firearm, taser, meth, cocaine and cash were seized from the vehicle.

24-year-old Jonah Wiens from St. Adolphe and 20-year-old Deymon Cretain from Winnipeg have been charged for their alleged involvement with:

  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle 
  • Unauthorized possession a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime 
  • Possess break-in instruments
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without licence/registration
  • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

Cretain was also charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Both men were detained in custody as the investigation continues by police.
