RCMP have charged a 41-year-old male in connection to multiple sexual assaults against six female student on Steinbach Regional Secondary School (SRSS) property.
The suspect was a teacher and coach who worked at the school between February and June 2022.
Police say that on June 17, 2022, they received several reports that the six female students between 15 and 18 were allegedly assaulted by the teacher between February 1, 2022 and May 31, 2022.
On July 4, 2022, RCMP arrested David Bueti of Winnipeg. He has been charged for his alleged involvement with five counts of Sexual Assault and three counts of Sexual Interference.
Police say that Bueti was released from custody on a release order with a number of conditions.
Prior to working at SRSS he was employed at:
- River East Collegiate for six months in 2021
- Holy Cross School for four months in 2020
- St. John Brebeuf from 2007 to 2018
- Holy Ghost School from 2006 to 2007
RCMP say that the investigation is ongoing and anyone wishing to speak to an investigator is asked to call (204) 326-1234.
RCMP noted that there’s no time limit to report a sexual assault to police. Even if you were assaulted years ago, you can still report it to police.
If you wish to report a sexual assault, you can contact your local police to make a report. If you chose not to report sexual assault to the police directly, you can report the crime through a third party. Third party reporting is when someone else reports the crime to police. It allows survivors who do not want to report the crime directly to ensure police receive a report about the crime.
