Man charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing sister

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 20-year-old male after he allegedly stabbed his sister late Monday night, January 21, 2019.

Police say they were called to a residence in the 100 block of Tuxedo Avenue minutes before midnight. When officers arrived on scene they found a female in her 30s suffering serious stab wound injuries.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police say the suspect got into a physical fight with two of his sisters and during the fight picked up a knife. One of the sisters tried to intervene but was pushed away. She suffered an injury to her hand and required medical attention. The other sister was stabbed twice in the upper-body.

Investigators say that the suspect then fled the residence.

About an hour later, just after 1:00 am on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, the suspect returned and was arrested.

Ryan Sinclair from Winnipeg is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Attempt to Commit Murder, Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon.

Sinclair remains in custody. His sister remains in critical condition.
