The family inside the home were unaware of the fire but a bystander who had seen the blaze went into the home and got the family to safety.

The bystander who did not want his name used said that when he had entered the home the smoke detectors had not yet gone off but smoke was seeping into the home around the back windows.

Several people were assessed by paramedics, including the bystander, but no one was taken to hospital.

The fire appears to have started in a pile of debris behind the home then spread to a large tree, a vehicle and the home.

The home suffered significant damage from flames, smoke and water.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
