Winnipeg Police have charged a priest for a number of sexual assaults that occurred more than 30 years ago.
Police say that earlier this year, in the spring of 2018, the WPS Child Abuse Unit began investigating after an adult male made allegations of sexual assaults that happened between 1928 and 1988 while he was a resident student at the St. Boniface Minor Seminary. Police say the victim was a youth at the time of the alleged offences.
On October 3, 2018, police arrested 70-year-old Roland Lanoie, a priest with the Archdiocese of St. Boniface and charged him with four counts of Sexual Assault and Indecent Assault for his alleged involvement.
The accused has been released on a promise to appear in court.
