Police acted quickly and were able to identify and arrest a 16-year-old male suspect from St. Andrews. He is now facing charges of uttering threats.
“We are continuing to work with the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School and taking all the necessary steps to ensure the students and staff are safe at school.” RCMP Sgt. Paul Manaigre said.
After the suspect was taken into custody Winnipeg Police became aware of a possible threat against Kildonan-East Collegiate and immediately investigated.
” By the time Winnipeg based schools were linked to the threat the individual was already in custody. We were very confident that there were no secondary individuals, it was limited to one person,” said Rob Carver, Public Information Officer, Winnipeg Police.
Winnipeg Police say that they were quickly able to ascertain that the threat against Kildonan-East Collegiate had ended and they took to social media themselves to spread the word.
