A 32-year-old Winnipeg male was arrested by police in connection to several child pornography images and videos that were posted to social media.
Police say they were tipped off to the crime in September 2019 by the administrators of a social media company who reported the images to the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in the United States.
A trace of the IP address used to upload the images came back with a Winnipeg address.
On November 7, 2019 investigators from the WPS Internet Child Exploitation along with members from the Technical Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a Norwood West area home.
Officers seized various electronic devices during the search and analysis showed they contained various images and videos of child pornography.
The accused, John Edward Machowski, was charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of Child Pornography and Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possess for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale any Child Pornography.
Machowski was released on a recognizance.
