RCMP are investigating the death of a 49-year-old female after the snowmobile she was driving collided with another snowmobile on Bird Lake in Nopiming Provincial Park.

Police were called to the scene around 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022, and said that a male and a female riding separate snowmobiles went off a groomed trail crossing the lake in an attempt to pass another group of riders. The female lost control of her machine and veered back onto the trail colliding with a snowmobile from the other group. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP continue to investigate.
