Winter coats, boots and shovels are the order of the day
It is not uncommon for a late season snow storm to hit Manitoba but it is never welcomed. Snow has begun to fall in Winnipeg and Environment Canada is saying that we can expect 5 to 10 cm of the white stuff before the storm passes by.
In the south eastern part of the province accumulations will be in the 15 to 20 cm range with snow heavy at times. Snowfall warnings are in effect outside the city.
Along with the snow freezing rain could also develop making road conditions poor. Environment Canada is warning “Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”
The province is warning people living around Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba that ice may pile up along the shoreline as winds increase to 4o km/h tonight and into tomorrow.
