RCMP officers from the Stonewall detachment have arrested and charged a 22-year-old man from the RM of Rockwood with break and entry-related offences after finding him dozing in the cab of a stolen pick-up truck.
Police had been called to investigate a break and enter to a business on Road 78 North, in the RM of Rockwood around 7 in the morning of March 16, 2022.
It appears a pick-up truck and front-end loader were stolen in the process, though neither vehicle made it far from the scene. The front-end loader was located down the road from the business, as was a damaged side-by-side.
The pick-up truck was found on the property, but was stuck in the snow in a gravel pit. Officers who approached the truck noticed it was running, with a man apparently sleeping inside.
The male was arrested without incident, and is now facing charges of break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of break-in instruments.
