Small fire snuffed in Dufferin Avenue building

Investigation continues into the cause of a small fire at a large, four-storey commercial building in the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue.

Just after 3 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to an automatic alarm at the address.

Crews encountered light smoke and signs of sprinkler activation upon arrival.  A search of the structure turned up evidence of an extinguished fire that had been contained to one room.

The incident was declared under control within the hour.  The fire crew noted one person had self-evacuated the building before they arrived.  There were no injuries and no other occupants were found.

The building sustained fire, smoke and water damage, though no damage estimate is available at this time.
