Six people arrested during weapons and drugs investigation

Winnipeg Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit and the Tactical Support Team executed a search warrant at De La Morenie Street residence on Tuesday evening, July 13, 2021.

During the search officers took several people into custody and seized weapons, drugs and stolen property including:

  • A sawed-off 12-gauge pump-action shotgun
  • 12-gauge shotgun ammunition
  • A 9mm magazine with ammunition
  • A .22LR magazine with ammunition
  • 8 grams of fentanyl (estimated street value of $2,400)
  • Digital scales
  • A stolen Suzuki motorcycle (taken from the Chalmers neighbourhood between July 6-7, 2021)

Four people were charged with a number weapons, drug and property-related offences and released on Undertakings.

Police say that at roughly the same time that officers were executing the search warrant a vehicle was stopped near Provencher Boulevard and Israel Asper Way in connection to the same investigation.

A 20-year-old male and a 35-year-old female were taken into custody and also face weapons, drug and property offences.

Inside their vehicle police uncovered A handgun-style air pistol (CO2 pellet gun), 4 grams of fentanyl (estimated street value of $1,200), 10 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine (estimated street value of $1,000), 2 ounces of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $1,000), $1,280 in Canadian currency, A digital scale and Packaging materials.

Both suspects were released on Undertakings.
