Six More Inmates Charged in Stony Mountain Homicide

The RCMP have made a significant development in the investigation of a homicide at Stony Mountain Institution, charging six additional inmates with second-degree murder. This follows the death of a 37-year-old male inmate on July 22, 2024.  

According to RCMP six more individuals have been charged for their alleged involvement:

  • Randal Hastings, 31  
  • Daniel Chatkana, 25  
  • Keewatin Lachose, 24  
  • Brennan MacDonald, 22  
  • Jeremiah Zglobicki, 22  
  • Wallace Sinclair, 20  

All six accused have been remanded into custody.

Investigators previously announced the arrest and charge of Nukota Peters, 22, also an inmate at Stony Mountain, who was charged with second-degree murder on July 25, 2024.  

The investigation began on July 22, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., when Headingley RCMP responded to reports of a serious assault at the federal penitentiary. Officers discovered the 37-year-old victim suffering from critical injuries. He was transported to Health Sciences Centre, where he later died.  

The RCMP Forensic Identification Unit (FIS) and RCMP Major Crime Services were called in to assist with the investigation, with Major Crime Services now taking the lead.  

The RCMP have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
