Six deaths and 59 new COVID-19 cases identified Wednesday

59 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Two cases have been removed due to a data correction bringing the net-new number of cases to 57. Six additional deaths reported due to the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a male in his 70s from the Northern health region, linked to outbreaks at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home and St. Anthony’s General Hospital, dialysis unit;
  • a female in her 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to the outbreak at Heritage Life Personal Care Home;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Parkview Place Personal Care Home;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region; and
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 5.2 per cent provincially and 4.1 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 30,471.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • one cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 31 cases in the Northern health region;
  • two cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • four cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 21 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,573 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 27,985 people listed as recovered.

255 people are being treated in the hospital of which 99 are considered infectious. 34 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 17 of them still considered infectious.

859 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,610 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 493,825 tests completed.
