Man fires shotgun while passenger in taxi

Two males are facing weapons charges after shots were fired from inside a Winnipeg taxi early Sunday morning, January 13, 2019.

Police say that three passengers were in a taxi when one of them pulled out a firearm and began to wave it around. The male suspect also allegedly pointed the weapon at the driver. As the cab neared Selkirk Avenue and King Street the passenger put the weapon out the window and fired a shot.

The cab continued and took the passengers to their destination. as the passenger with the gun exited the vehicle he fired one shot through the windshield of the taxi.

Police descended on a residence near where the passengers were dropped off and found several people inside and took them into custody. A second home was searched close by and officers recovered a sawed-off shotgun. The weapon was loaded.

Dorian Tyrell Packo, 19 and Rudy Carpentier, 24 are facing nearly two dozen weapons-related charges for their alleged involvement in the incident.

Two other people, a 19-year-old female, and a 24-year-old male were arrested for unrelated outstanding warrants say police.
