Shoppers Drug Mart has announced that effective April 22, 2019, all the current stores offering 24-hour service in Winnipeg will have reduced hours.
The move comes after parent company Loblaw’s says after-hour demand is so low in the city that it is no longer practical to operate around the clock. Stores that had operated 24-hours will be closed between midnight and 8 am.
Winnipeg had five of the chain stores that operated 24-hours. Two of the pharmacies have already had their hours cut. The Pembina Highway location at Southpark Drive will move to the new hours effective February 25th while the other two locations on Osborne and on Portage Avenue near Moray Street will transition in April.
