An employee from the Polo Park mall Footlocker store is in hospital after he was injured while trying to stop a shoplifter on Thursday evening, March 21, 2019,

Police say the suspect tried to run out of a store with several items he had stolen when he was confronted by several employees. As he tried to get away he attacked one of the employees confronting him. The suspect was turned over to police by mall security.

The injured employee was taken to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable.

A 17-year-old male is facing Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Possess Weapon charges.
