It was a tense situation at the Health Sciences Centre Sunday night as a gunman fired multiple rounds in the Starbucks coffee shop located in the hotel attached to the William Ave. Hospital.

Police say that around 10pm a man was chased into the coffee shop by two other men and as the first man ran behind the serving counter he was shot at three times by one of the other men pursuing him.

As police arrived the hospital was placed in lockdown and for the next hour officers searched the area for the three men.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The hospital remained in lockdown until just after 11:00 pm.

Police believe the men involved in the incident were in their late teens or early twenties and are described as:

1 – Male, Aboriginal in appearance, medium build black hair, some facial hair and believed to be in possession of a firearm.
   
2 – Male, Black, approximately 6’1″ tall, skinny build and facial hair.    

The suspects fled in a vehicle described as a black/charcoal SUV having a roof rack.
