Shooting and stabbings keep Winnipeg police busy overnight

Winnipeg police are investigating three stabbings and three shootings That happened overnight.

Police say that around 8:30 pm police were called after people in the area of 700 Corydon Avenue heard gunshots. Although no one was found in the area a did show up at a nearby hospital with gunshot injuries a short time later.

Two hours later officers were called to a South Point Douglas shelter after a woman in her 40s was was stabbed. She was taken to hospital in unstable condition.

Just before 12:30 am on Monday, April 12, gunshots were reported in the 200 block of Young Street. Police say a short time later a male in his 30s connected to the incident turned up in hospital with a gunshot wound.

An hour later a man in his 40s was found suffering from a stab wound in the 300 block of Sherbrook Street. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition. Police say they believe the male was assaulted in the 500 block of Portage Avenue.

At 2:08 am a female teen was stabbed on Prichard Avenue. She was taken to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable. A female in her 20s has been arrested.

Minutes before 4:00 am police were called to the 400 block of Furby Street for a report of gunshots heard in the area. Police did not find anyone suffering injuries but they did locate gunshot damage to a nearby home.

Police say that the cases are being investigated by members of the Major Crimes Unit and do not know at this time if any of them are related.
