A fire in a shed behind St. Boniface Hospital Saturday evening is under investigation say fire officials.
Around 6:45 pm on May 16, 2020 fire crews responded to a report of the fire. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service called a second alarm in order to increase the number of crew and apparatus on scene in case the blaze extended to the hospital building.
As firefighters arrived they encountered heavy flames and thick black smoke coming from the shed. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was deemed under control at 7:02 pm.
Light smoke had made its way inside the administrative area of the hospital and crews set up fans to ventilate.
No evacuations were necessary and the fire did not impact any patients. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
