The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) began an investigation in an allegation of a sexual assault by an on-duty RCMP officer.
According to the IIU, the incident occurred on June 27, 2021, in northern Manitoba. The civilian director of the IIU has determined it is in the public interest for the agency to investigate.
Due to the sensitive nature of the incident the IIU says they will not be releasing any other information.
