Sex offender released from jail to live in Winnipeg

The Manitoba Integrated High-Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU) has put out an advisory that a convicted sex offender has been released from Headingley Correctional Centre after serving five months behind bars for breaching the curfew conditions of his probation order.

Winston George Thomas was convicted of sexual assault in 2008 against a 13-year-old female and was sentenced to two years in jail. He has a history of several sexual assaults dating back to 2003.

Police say that Thomas is considered a high-risk to re-offend in a sexual or sexually violent manner against all females including children.

Thomas is expected to live in Winnipeg and is under a supervised probation until December 2020. He is not allowed to consume alcohol, non-prescription drugs, hairspray, gas, glue or other intoxicants. He is under a curfew between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am. Thomas is not allowed to own, possess or carry a weapon.
