Several City services set to resume on Monday

As phase three of the Manitoba reopening strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic begins the City of Winnipeg is resuming some previously suspended service.

Effective Monday June 22, 2020, the Council Building at City Hall will reopen to the public under limited circumstances.

The public will be able to appear as a delegation and meet with elected officials by appointment.

The City Clerk’s Department located on the Main floor of the Susan A, Thompson Building will be resuming a number of services including the receipt of legal services against the City of Winnipeg, The receipt and processing of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act requests, The receipt of applications for assessment appeals, The receipt of appeals of development and regulatory orders, Commissioner for Oath Services, Providing proof of life for pensioners, Certifying true copies of documents and Selling marriage licenses.

The city says that only two customers will be allowed at the front counter at a time and social distancing practices are expected.

Wedding ceremonies will also be permitted as of Monday but are limited to 10 people in attendance in the Susan A. Thompson Building and no more than 15 in the Council Building. 25 people are permitted for outdoor ceremonies.

The City of Winnipeg Archives research room will also be reopening on June 22nd by appointment only. You can call 204-986-5325 to book an appointment in advance. The archives are located at 50 Myrtle Street.
