28 make it to Manitoba illegally over the weekend
RCMP are reporting that between Sunday night and Monday morning two more groups of people entered Canada illegally near Emerson, Manitoba.
According to police the first group consisted of four people; the second group had three individuals for a total of seven overnight.
This weekend there were a total of 28 people crossing the border between Manitoba and the northern United States illegally. All 28 were arrested and all 28 requested refugee status and were processed by Canada Border Services Agency.
Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister said the province and the federal government are working together to deal with the influx of refugees coming from the United States.
