Police closed Dufferin Avenue in both directions to traffic between Parr Street and Arlington Street while the scene was active.

Tactical Support Team members were heard calling out the name “Stevie Ray Ballentyne” over a public address system saying they knew that he was in the home and to come to the front door.

A male with that same name was arrested in April 2021 for a break-in on Dufferin Avenue and was charged with a number of firearms offences. An earlier arrest in November of 2017 also for someone with the same name cited 16 firearms-related offences.

During the incident, the ARV vehicle was stationed in the back lane with an officer pointing a weapon at the back of the home.
