Police still looking for two more suspects
As News 4 previously told you, two people were stabbed after a large fight broke out at Smith Street and St. Mary Avenue just after midnight on July 2, 2017. When officers arrived they found three people who had suffered stab wounds. A 27-year-old male and a 26-year-old female were treated for stab wounds and released. A 22-year-old male was taken to hospital in critical condition. He has since been released from the hospital.
The Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit investigated the incident and have identified and arrested seven suspects for their alleged involvement.
Evan Ryan BETTLES, 26, has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault
- Unsafe storage of firearm
- Possess weapon
- Unauthorized Possess of a Firearm with Ammunition
Bettles was detained in custody
Anthony Evaristo GONZALES, 27, has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault
Jonathon Paul ORTIZ, 23, has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
A 23-year-old female has been charged with:
- Assault
- Aggravated Assault
A 26-year-old male has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
A 28-year-old male has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Public Mischief
A 27-year-old male has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
Police have also identified two other suspects related to the incident but they have not been arrested yet
Investigators are also looking for the people who were in a late model Nissan Rouge. The vehicle is dark grey or silver in colour. Police would like to talk to the occupants because they were in the immediate vicinity during the assault.
